Chair Yoga is quickly becoming popular in all settings to make yoga accessible to all populations. Chair yoga takes a regular yoga practice and brings it off the floor and on a level that is accessible to most people. There are many reasons for people to try chair yoga including age, lack of exercise, or even disability. Some people come to chair yoga to become more comfortable with yoga before then transitioning to a regular yoga practice. Others come to chair yoga because it is no longer easy for them to get up and down with the flow of yoga. Benefits of chair yoga include increased range of motion and flexibility, increased strength, increased balance and proprioception.
This workshop will offer teaching methodology of chair yoga for all populations including those with limited mobility and decreased range of motion, how to increase the intensity of the practice with strength and cardio, knowing when to progress the practice out of the chair, and words and phrases to make sure everyone feels comfortable in their practice. Yoga Alliance Instructors can receive 6 hours of contact continuing education credits in Anatomy, Techniques, Training, and Practice and in Teaching Methodology.
The workshop is from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm with 1.5 hours for lunch. Fee is $149 per person. Members will receive their discounts as a benefit of membership.

We are pleased to announce that our 200 hour teacher training program will begin with the Class of 2019 on October 19, 2018. We have spent a lot of time researching the curriculum that connects with Yoga Power, LLC and its future. Our lead trainers and teaching staff will guide you through a one-of-a-kind Hatha Yoga training program to give you the deepest possible understanding of yoga as both a practitioner and instructor. You may also participate in this training program merely to enhance your own personal practice. We recommend having practiced yoga for one year before enrolling in the teacher training program. Minimum age is 16.
The goal of teacher training is to help you:
Here's how to get started:
The training will consist of 8 modules offered on the third weekend of each month. If the date conflicts with a holiday, the training will be held on the second weekend of the month. See detailed schedule below.
Sessions will be held on:
Our training is very flexible to meet your busy schedule. We understand that life happens and you may have to miss a scheduled weekend. You will have 16 months to complete all 8 modules without penalty. For example, if you miss Module 3 during the Class of 2019, you can make it up in the Class of 2020 training. We have ongoing teacher trainings scheduled for the next 2 years so you will be able to see when the module is scheduled. You will also have the ability to make up your missed sessions privately with a member of our teaching staff by additional payment of $45 per hour.
A First Level 10 Class Pass and a Next Level 10 Class Pass are included in tuition if you are not a current member of Yoga Power so you can participate in studio classes during the training. Books, study materials, accommodations, meals, and travel are not included in tuition. The required reading list is included in your application confirmation material.
Fee is only $1,999! Yoga Power members will receive their discounts as a benefit of membership: Gold = 5%, Platinum = 10%, VIP = 15%. You must maintain your initial membership level for at least 3 months after receiving the discount on teacher training.
If applying for the payment plan option, you must have your $100 deposit paid in full accompanied with the payment plan agreement signed and returned to Yoga Power by the October 19 deadline.
