About Rebecca Rasmussen

"A SoCal native turned East Coaster, living on a hobby farm in Connecticut with my husband, Matt (@theyogimatt), where we love all things coffee, music, nature, and all the joys of life.

As an entrepreneur, I wear many hats—International Yoga Teacher, Inside Flow Senior Teacher/Teacher Trainer, Chromatic Yoga Leader, Positive Psychology Coach, and Mastery Method Certified Coach.

But beyond these titles lies a deeper purpose: to connect with passionate individuals, make a lasting impact, and help others create their dreams and live THE most fulfilled-positively-abundant life.

My journey started with a childhood dream of becoming a professional dancer, which led me to join MOMIX in 2006.

For almost two decades, I immersed myself in the professional world of dance, traveling to amazing destinations, performing on prestigious stages, and embracing so many different cultures. It was AMAZING! But, as a professional dancer, I knew change was inevitable, often facing the not so pleasant question, 'So, What's next?’

In 2013, living in New York City, yoga entered my life. This experience offered me a different perspective on movement and eventually inspired me to share its magic with others. Don’t get me wrong—this transition wasn't immediate! It was years of playing with fear, loss of identity, and so much uncertainty.

Through all the hardships and intense transformation, I realized I am beyond what I do and I CAN create whatever my heart desires. This laid the foundation for my yoga, Inside Flow, and coaching venture. I'm deeply grateful for the challenges I faced, as they shaped the resilience and insight I bring to my work today."

Anatomy in Motion

Anatomy in Motion: 3 Day Training

Anatomy can be an intimidating subject, but with the right approach it can be very accessible and easy to learn. This 3 day, all levels appropriate training will bring your knowledge and practice to a whole new level. If you are a teacher you will also learn to apply what you learn with simple, easy to follow structures for sequencing, and verbal cuing. You do not have to be a certified teacher to attend, you simply need to come with a curiosity to understand your body and you will leave with a world of applicable knowledge.

Anatomy in Motion is not an ordinary training. We will not be sitting down with our text books open, intellectualizing the body. Instead we will be moving, engaging and FEELING our anatomy. It is through sensation and action that you will learn the names of the muscles, bones and joints, and what their respective role is in your body. As you understand your body more and more you will learn how each muscle and joint action directly relate to the yoga postures and transitions.

What you will learn:

  • Embodied anatomy
  • key muscles, bones, and joints
  • Visualize your movements internally
  • Improve proprioception
  • Sensation-based practices
  • Unlock and strengthen major muscle groups
  • Active, passive, and isometric stretching
  • Improve mobility and stability
  • Teachers: Learn how to implement anatomy into your classes
  • Teachers: Learn how to verbally cue students to access their muscles and articulate their joints
  • Teachers: Learn injury prevention and management
  • All Levels Appropriate including practitioners who are not certified to teach yoga

WHO IS THIS FOR?

This training is for anyone that would like to empower themselves in understanding how the human body works, especially within the context of the yoga practice. Both non-teachers and teachers alike will greatly benefit from the knowledge gained and the development of your physical practice. Yoga teachers benefit in two ways; advancing your own practice, and learning to help others with theirs.  You do NOT need to be a yoga teacher to attend, however yoga teachers will receive 22 CEUs from Yoga Alliance for this training.

HOW DOES THIS TRAINING WORK?

The in person training will take you deeper into the application of anatomy in your yoga asana practice. You will bring take your anatomy knowledge into action by moving through key transitions, exploring the most used yoga postures, and learning new exercises to strengthen, mobilize and feel your muscles, bones and joints. Questions will be welcomed, discussions will be had, and integration of the knowledge learned with settle in of the 3 days. You will leave this with massive inspiration for your practice and teaching (if you are a teacher).

WHAT IF I AM NOT A TEACHER?

While the teaching technique sections will not be directly applicable because you will not be teaching others, it will be incredibly useful to your practice. By learning these structures you will be able to guide yourself more accurately through the asana practice and will be more aware of what you can do when you are not understanding something in your body.

INJURY MANAGEMENT AND PREVENTION

Through-out the study of anatomy and asana you will learn about common injuries, how to avoid them and what you can do if you or your student(s) have them. The education on anatomy will make the discussion on injuries far more powerful as you will understand how the body works, moves, and stabilizes to prevent movement. All injuries resulting from physical activity or non-activity are simply the result of too much movement, not enough movement, too much or not enough strength, or too much/not enough flexibility. You will see this to be true throughout the online and in person sections of this training.

If you are ready to finally break through the mystery and confusion of anatomy, and gain clarify on bio-mechanics (the way the body moves) then this training is for you! Get ready to advance your yoga practice, gain body awareness, and support your students in doing the same!

Ashtanga Yoga with Kino MacGregor

Ashtanga yoga traces its lineage to an ancient sage named Vamana Rishi and it is through a long line of students who became teachers themselves that we now have access to the heritage of yoga. Ashtanga literally means eight limbs and is defined by the sacred yogic text, Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras as Yama (moral codes), Niyama (self-purification and study), Asana (posture), Pranayama (breath control), Pratyahara (sense control), Dharana (concentration), Dhyana (meditation) and Samadhi (total peace). Ideally teachers are well-versed in all eight limbs before they begin teaching so that they may truly guide the student through the entire journey of yoga.

While containing six series of postures, most practitioners spend their entire lives working on the first or "Primary Series" of Ashtanga Yoga because its level of strength and flexibility is already quite challenging. Yet the Primary Series is a complete practice that can help you heal your body and mind.

The physical practice of yoga can be likened to brushing your teeth. Without a daily routine plaque and tartar accumulate and cause a pricey visit to the dentist. Just like brushing your teeth, with yoga you get to scrub your thoughts and clean out your body. It is no magic pill and for total healing you may need to explore many complimentary approaches to the body and mind, including therapy, meditation, energy healing and more. It is through your own effort that you purify your body. Yoga is as strong as you make it and takes you as deep as you are willing to go.

About Kino MacGregor

Kino MacGregor is a Miami native who is happiest on the beach with a fresh coconut and a poet at heart who always stops to smell the flowers. She is the founder of Omstars—the world’s first yoga TV network. With over 1 million followers on Instagram and over 500,000 subscribers on YouTube and Facebook, Kino’s message of spiritual strength reaches people all over the world. Yoga for Kino is more than just a “workout”— it is a way life founded on a firm commitment to the moral and ethical precepts of truth, non-violence and love. Being strong in yoga is just not about a powerful handstand or a deep backbend for Kino, nor is yoga a game of extreme ableism where yogis compete with one another. Instead, Kino sees yoga a daily ritual where people tune deeply in to their spiritual center and experience the peace of the Eternal Divine. Kino believes in making the tools of traditional yoga accessible for all different sizes, shapes, ethnicities and ages and writes a weekly Yogi Assignment blog based on her popular Yogi Assignment book. Rather than it being an exclusive club for the privileged elite, yoga is for everyone and it is the international community of yogis who are responsible for the integrity of the sacred heart of yoga.

Kino says "My personal practice is based in the Ashtanga Yoga method. I have been dedicated to a daily, six-day-a-week practice for over 20 years. Over the last twenty years I have made annual trips to Mysore, India to study Ashtanga Yoga with my teachers the late K. Pattabhi Jois and his grandson R. Sharath Jois."
