We are exploring the West Virginia waterfall trails!

Chasing waterfalls takes on a whole new meaning in West Virginia with the first-ever statewide Waterfall Trails. We are accepting the challenge of West Virginia Tourism to hike to all of the 43 listed waterfalls. Waterfall wandering is the perfect all-year round outdoor activity.

We know there are many of you who want to hike but don't want to do it alone. Therefore, we are expanding our yoga hikes statewide! The Yoga Power Team is here to guide you to the falls and back so you can enjoy the great outdoors without the worry of planning. Of course, we will practice a little yoga along the way and always strike a pose that is Instagram worthy at the stunning cascades.

Download your WV Tourism virtual passport HERE to join us on our waterfall hikes and earn exclusive prizes.

Day Hike Essentials Checklist:

The Yoga Power Team wants you to take the necessary precautions to ensure the safety and wellness of all our hikers. The hike essentials needed vary based on the type, difficulty, and length of the intended hike. We recommend that you assess your own individual needs.

You DO NOT need a yoga mat on the hikes.

We have formulated this day hike essentials checklist so you don't have to! It includes, but is not limited to:

  • Hiking pack or back pack
  • Weather-appropriate clothing in moisture wicking layers
  • Hiking footwear which includes ankle support. No flip flops!
  • Plenty of water and snacks
  • Navigation tools, such as maps and compass
  • Fully charged cellular device or watch
  • First-aid kit
  • Bug spray or wrist bands
  • Bear spray
  • Sunscreen
  • Sunglasses
  • Knife or multi-tool
  • Trekking pole or walking stick

Hiking Trail Difficulty Levels:

  • Easy: Hike that is generally suitable for anyone who enjoys walking. Mostly level or with a slight incline.
  • Moderate: Hike is generally suitable for novice hikers who want a bit of a challenge. The terrain will involve a moderate incline and may have some steeper sections.
  • Moderately Strenuous: Hike will be challenging for an unconditioned person. The terrain will involve a steady and often steep incline.
  • Strenuous: Hike will challenge most hikers. The hike may be longer and/or steeper, but may be deemed strenuous because of the elevation gain.
  • Very Strenuous: Hike for only well-conditioned and well-prepared hikers. The hike may be long and/or steep, and may include rock scrambling, stream crossings, and other challenging terrain.
