Thomas Blankenship is a W.I.T.S certified personal fitness trainer who holds the phrase "keep moving forward" close to his heart...literally. This motto has served him well while rehabilitating himself from cardiac disease and open heart surgery. It was between surgeries when Tom found yoga and he has been hooked ever since. As a result of these experiences, he has a passions for helping other people recover from medical issues and improving their quality of life.  He enjoys practicing yoga, hiking, riding bicycles and weight training. Tom invites you to join him in the adventure of life. 
 
He completed his 200 hour Ashaya Yoga training with Randy Boyd, his Barre Teacher Training through Brown Dog Yoga, and his Acro Teacher Training through the Yoga Power School.

Angie Edmunds

Certified Yoga Teacher (E-RYT® 200, YACEP®) & Acro Yoga Master Trainer & 200 Hour YTT Lead Trainer & Travel Staff Member
 
Angie Edmunds is responsible for many of our workshops and events.  She has a vision of the newest, hottest trends in yoga and loves bringing them to Yoga Power.
 
She teaches Acro (solar and lunar) yoga and partner yoga. She also teaches Hatha yoga and Yoga for Athletes, focusing on functional mobility. Over the years, she has taught classes ranging from restorative to hot yoga.
 
She recently received certification through PESI in Yoga and Mindfulness for stress and anxiety in children, adolescents and adults.  

Kay Smith

Certified Yoga Teacher & Certified Aerial Yoga Instructor

Kay Smith has been teaching yoga since September, 2006 and is a certified 200 Hour in the Kripalu Hatha Yoga tradition.  She is also an Aerial Yoga Certified Instructor.

 

She teaches a vinyasana hatha flow style of yoga, which can range from gentle to a more active practice, depending on her students. She taught herself yoga by teaching yoga to a group at Curves in 2006. She's been told that she teaches her “own style of yoga”, which is fine with her. She has never marched to the conventional drummer. So, she branded she style of yoga as YOGA~NIQUE. She invites you to join her for some “Yoga~Nique” yoga on the mat or in the air for some fun “Yoga~Nique” aerial yoga.

 

Meditations that she practices can range from a silent meditation to meditations based on Nischala Joy Devi’s meditations; deepening inner stillness. Of course, Savasana is the most enjoyed part of practicing yoga for most people. Savasana is going deep within oneself; staying alert, but letting go of all the tension in your body; total relaxation, so the body can let go of tension and rebalance itself. Our bodies need relaxation as well as adequate sleep.

 

She first became interested in practicing yoga to relieve her fibromyalgia and osteoporosis symptoms. She didn't like taking medications, so she knew exercise, relaxation, and stress management, along with healthy eating, was the path she wished to travel. Besides the physical aspect, yoga also helps her learn to relax, rest, and let her body renew itself. Yoga helps her have a more positive attitude towards how her body is feeling on any given day. Her yoga practice is her personal therapy to experience less pain, more flexibility, and a calmer mind. She loves the alignment of the body in yoga, but she also loves the joy of living your yoga “off the mat”. She believes in the power of yoga to connect her body with her breath, and her breath with her soul. She strives to create a safe and personal space for each student so that they may find their true self in a safe supportive environment.

Yoga Sculpt is a yoga mat-based workout that adds free weights to a yoga sequence, intensifying each yoga pose while incorporating cardio and training exercises, such as squats, lunges, bicep and tricep curls to help you build lean muscle mass.
